Issuance Program Update: January 2024

5 January 2024

Following the Australian Government’s release of the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) in December 2023, the Australia Office of Financial Management (AOFM) announced that Treasury Bond issuance for 2023-24 is planned to be around $50 billion (of which $23.6 billion has been completed). Planned issuance of Treasury Indexed Bonds in 2023-24 will be $2-4 billion (of which $1.25 billion has been completed).

This notice provides details of planned issuance of Australian Government Securities by the AOFM over the second half of 2023-24.

Consistent with the Treasurer's announcement, the first Green Treasury Bond will be issued between April and June. The bond will mature in June 2034. The Australian Government Green Bond Framework outlines how green bonds will finance public projects that drive Australia’s net zero transformation and support environmental objectives.

Treasury Bond tenders will resume in the week commencing 15 January 2024.

Two tenders of Treasury Indexed Bonds will be held in most months, with the next tender date to be announced next week.

The AOFM will remain active in the Treasury Note market, maintaining at least $25 billion on issue. The first Treasury Note tender will be held on 11 January 2024.

Details of weekly transactions will be announced at midday on the preceding Friday.
